The Secretary of State Ed Davey today confirmed consent for the construction of Hinkley Point ‘C’ on 19th March 2013. Both the Planning Inspectorate who spent six months examining the proposals and especially the Department of Energy and Climate Change seemed to see an expanded Combwich Wharf and the Combwich lay-down area as an important part of the proposal.
It is disappointing that the strongly argued case by many local residents and the Parish Council against some of the Combwich proposals was rejected. However work will continue to help protect residents from disturbance as far as possible. It is to be hoped that the local EDF Energy management will appreciate the benefits of working with our community by minimising noise and disruption.
A full assessment of the Combwich consents will be posted when the details have been assimilated.
